Cooling Rituals for Pitta Season

ByDr. Hashani Perera, BAMS·April 15, 2026

In Ayurveda, the qualities of the fire element — heat, sharpness, intensity — are embodied in Pitta dosha. During warmer months, these qualities can become aggravated in everyone, regardless of your constitution. The result? Irritability, inflammation, skin sensitivity, and burnout.

The solution is not to suppress Pitta's fire — it is a vital force of intelligence and transformation. The Ayurvedic goal is to keep it in balance.

Morning: The Cool Start

Rose water mist: Begin your day by spritzing your face with chilled rose water. Rose is one of the most potent Pitta-cooling botanicals, and it begins working immediately on the skin and through the olfactory system to calm the mind.

Coconut oil pulling: Swish 1 tablespoon of cold-pressed coconut oil in your mouth for 10 minutes. Coconut is cooling and deeply nourishing for Pitta types.

Evening: Releasing the Day's Heat

Kumkumadi oil on the chest and temples: Apply 2–3 drops of our Kumkumadi Radiance Oil to the centre of your chest and gently massage your temples. The sandalwood and vetiver in this formula are among the most cooling botanicals in the Ayurvedic canon.

Chandayu Wellness Tea: Brew a cup of our Tulsi & Gotukola Wellness Tea 1 hour before bed. Both herbs are documented Pitta pacifiers. Drink slowly, without screens.

The body remembers every act of kindness you give it. Start this season with one ritual, and build from there.
